We have a dr's appointment next Wednesday for Riley's 9 month check up but I figured I better write down all the amazing things Riley has been up to the past 2 months.
Month 8 events:
-January 2-3 she had a really high fever, it was sad but she was super cuddly so I enjoyed all the cuddles
-January 4th weekend was the hardest weekend (especially the 4th) since she was born. She was creaming and crying nonstop for hours and hours. I tried everything but couldn't calm her down and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. There were a lot of tears shed by both of us
-She wouldn't sleep at night on the 4th or 5th.
-After sacrament meeting we decided we needed to go home and try to get Riley to take a nap. Tony laid her on our rug for a minute, she just rolled over onto her stomach and fell asleep for 2 hours! It was adorable and a huge blessing for me!
-Since she was born she would rub her nose into our chest like she was trying to bury down. Now she does it against anything....her mattress, the couch, our bodies
-She loves pears, apples and these organic puff things(happy baby brand and I think its happy plum or something like that). We're all done with purees. She won't eat them
-We found out why she was screaming all day on the 4th. She was cutting all 4 top teeth at once :( it was miserable for all of us
-We went to San Diego
-On the way there she slept until Poway
-Loved the hot tub and Grandma's shower
-Loves playing the piano
-Crawled on grass for the first time
-Loved being around a lot of her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents
-She loves chicken
-She's done better at putting herself back to sleep at night
-Has the cutest giggle
-Gives lots of kisses and smiles
-Got lots of bumps and bruises at Grandma's
-Crawls so fast
-Stands on tip toes
-Will lift one foot to look like she's trying to climb
-Can scoot along things standing
-Can crawl over things on the ground
Month 9:
-on February 9th on our scale you weighed 17.6 lbs
-She wears size 2 diapers at daycare but at home she wears size 3 because Grandma Amy was able to get us a good deal on some and I ran out of size 2 and didn't want to go to the store again
-Had a week where she had a blow out every single day
-Right after Montana walked down the aisle, Tony got up to say the prayer and Riley decided that was the perfect time to poop....she was wearing white and with her history of blowout that week I had to take her out right then, luckily someone was willing to take her but I missed the very beginning of the ceremony
-she has been going to bed SO easy! I'll feed her and then stand by her crib and cuddle with her until she starts trying to get in her crib, when I set her down she rolls over and goes right to bed!
-She goes through phases if she'll sleep through the night or not...normally she's up once a night
-Loves any kind of meat, banana, apple, pears, rice milk yogurt bites, puffs, green beans, zucchini, frozen peas, blueberries, honeydew melon. She isn't a huge fan of cherries or carrots, but she'll eat them. She is such a good eater, we're lucky
-Has mastered a sippy cup
-Definitely knows when we're taking a picture or video...she's such a little actor
-She laughs all the time
-She can stand briefly on her own
-She can crawl up our step in our house
-She started this growling thing that's hilarious
-A couple times we've tried bringing her in our bed just until she falls asleep....it never works because as soon as she comes in(even if she's dead asleep) she is wide awake and wants to play and give kisses and touch our faces. It's so funny
-She gives the sweetest hugs and kisses
-One of my favorite moments-she gave me a hug with one arm around my neck and with the other hand she pulled my face to her so she could give me a kiss. It was so sweet
-She has this high pitched scream if she wants something. Every thing I've read says it's a phase because she's trying to communicate what she wants. Or she needs more attention. Since I've read that I've been trying to give her even more attention and find out what she's wanting before she starts the scream. She seems to be doing a bit better
-She learned how to shake her head. It is adorable. She does it when she knows she's not supposed to do something (but she does it anyway). Like climbing up on our tile step, she'll turn to us and shake her head as she's climbing up. She's too smart!
-We had to teach in sunbeams one week and we were in opening exercises and the lady talking asked if the kids knew something to raise their hands...well Riley's hand shot right up! It was so funny, perfect timing!
-She waves by to people, or cars
-Says "dada" "mama" "dog" "cat" (sounds like 'at') and it sounds like she's starting to say duck
-on 2/25 she signed "more" for the first time. It made me so happy! I haven't been as consistent with signing as I wanted to be and I haven't used as many signs as I had been planning, so now that she understands she can communicate by signing I'm going to do better at signing to her.
The past two months have been so fun! She has a lot of personality. She is very independent which can be a good thing, but sometimes it's a bit much ha. She is so loving and happy! She's a goofball for sure. She is a wiggle worm(can't sit still for a second) but still wants you to hold her a lot. I can't get over how much I love this little girl! She makes me crazy some days but in the middle of me going crazy she does something so sweet and adorable that my heart melts (just for a minute before she starts making me crazy again ha). I am so grateful to have her in our life. She is the greatest blessing we could ask for!
