Our little 2 month old!
I'm sure I'll be saying this every month, but I cannot believe Riley is 2 months old! It has seriously flown by!
Here are some of the highlights from the past month:
-Slept through the night-it's only happened a couple times. She normally sleeps from about 9-2:30 or 3 and then again til 6ish. And then will take another 2 hour nap in the morning. She is a great sleeper. She will also put herself to sleep occassionally
-Turned from her stomach to back
-First beach trip-she was under a blanket the whole time because it was cold and windy
-Was blessing in church in San Diego
-Went swimming for the first time-she loved the hot tub when it was warm, she wasn't as big of a fan of the pool
-Started being watched by Tony's aunt and she does really well.
-She also is watched by Tony's sister, Montana. She LOVES Montana(probably because they just sleep together all morning!)
-Makes tons of noises
-She's started to grab things a lot. Mainly hair and shirts
-She likes taking a bath in the tub
-Pushes up when we put her on her stomach
-Watches people as they leave the room
-Smiles a TON
-Still loves her hands by/covering her face
-Doesn't like her arms swaddled...she can Houdini her way out of the tightest swaddles. The one night she didn't pull her hand out she slept way better. She normally has her right arm swaddled and her left one loose
-Likes to be held over us when we're laying down
-Likes her face/hair blown on. Also likes the wind
-Has lots of gas that normally doesn't bother her, sometimes she can't relax enough to push it out so we have to help work it out
-She likes if we move her legs like she's running
-Loves her dad! Tony gets to spend every afternoon with her, they're going to be best buds
-She does pretty good just laying in her crib or rock n play and being content, or just laying on the ground
-She was fighting going to sleep a few nights in a row. She would fall asleep and then as soon as we'd move she'd be wide awake. She would stay asleep if she slept on our chest. A few times after Tony tried putting her down for awhile he would just lay her in her rock n play and she would just lay there after we fell asleep, so I don't know how long it took her to fall asleep those nights.
-Went to her first movie with Aunt Toni
-She's started to laugh a little
-She is a wiggle worm. She'll kick her legs so much that she'll scoot around in a circle or off her play mat
-Got her shots and they didn't make her fussy or sick or anything. They didn't even phase her after the fact
-She likes being propped up to see
-She had a rash on her stomach and legs from either the soap or lotion we were using so we're not using any right now until it goes away
-She doesn't have any issues going from a bottle to nursing, which is good because I have to pump for her while I'm at work
-We can get her to smile, which is my favorite!
**One of my favorite moments was on the 16th. She fell asleep in my arms with both her arms swaddled. She was completely out when I put her in her crib, and she didn't even move to get comfortable. 5 minutes later I walked by her door and she was just staring out the door with a huge smile! It was like she was saying "And you thought I was down for the night, sucker!" It was so cute!
This past month has been great. Riley is such a great baby! I had to go back to work July 10th and it's been hard for me to be away from her all day, but I know she's being taken great care of being with family all day. She rarely fusses, unless she's hungry/wet/has gas. She will start squirming a lot if she wants to lay down on her own. We have been so blessed to have her in our family! Everyone loves her! I cannot get enough of her. She is just so cute and sweet. She loves to cuddle and smile.
I'll post pictures in another post.

2 month check up
So I'm going to do another post next week about Riley's second month of life but I wanted to update about her dr's appointment she had this afternoon. This blog is really for me to document what's been going on with Riley so I don't forget, so sorry if it seems boring.
Riley now weighs 11 lbs 8 oz(76th percentile), is 23 inches long(79th percentile) and she is in the 61st percentile for her head. The dr said her eye has gotten better(her tear duct hadnt opened by the last appointment so I've had to massage it everyday). Riley's been having a rash for the past little bit but it didn't seem to be bothering her at all so I wasn't too worried. It's all on her stomach and legs. The dr said it seems to be that she may be sensitive to soaps and lotions. He wants me to try not using soap and lotion for the next little bit to see if it helps. He told me to use aquaphor, mineral oil or coconut oil to keep her skin moisturized. Hopefully that helps. He said she looks perfect(I already knew that!) Riley also got her first round of shots. Grandma Amy came in with me and helped hold her arms. It took a second to realize what happened, then her face started turning bright red and then the scream started and two more shots followed. I cried a bit. I hate seeing my baby girl in pain. She didn't cry too much and she's been pretty good so far. I hope she isn't in too much pain. I did get some infant Tylenol and some gas drops(this little one has major gas and occasionally she can't relax enough to get it out).
