18 months(a little late)

Well our little girl is 18 months old-I can't believe how fast that went! She is such a little fireball and is basically the sweetest thing ever. We love her so much and couldn't imagine our family without her-although some days she really tests us.
Riley had her 18 month check up on Thursday and she's a little shrimp.
-23 lbs 2 oz. I think it was the 31%
-30 1/4 inches. And this was the 13% I think

We've been trying to wean her off dairy for a few weeks to see how she does, see if maybe that has been a factor in how difficult she acts some days.
Some of her highlights-
-she has about 15-20 words in her vocabulary
-majorly into climbing
-has a horrible horrible scream when she doesn't get her way
-loves babies
-loves taking showers way more than baths now
-normally is a really good eater but she's been kind of picky now
-LOVES cereal. She gets excited every time tony pours a bowl thinking it's for them to share(it's adorable)
-she is the biggest mooch when it comes to other people's food
-has learned the word "mine" and is probably one of the things I struggle with a lot in being patient
-she's a goofball
-she has a fake laugh that she uses a lot
-loves to be chased around our kitchen
-loves apples
-says "owie" all the time-and it's always her finger than hurts for some reason
-doesn't like her hair washed in the bath-but doesn't mind in the shower
-folds her arms when it's time to pray and it's one of the cutest things she does
-aside from the last week she's normally a really good sleep (from about 7:30 pm to 7 am) then a nap from 1-2 1/2 hours
-likes having her hair done but won't sit still long enough to have it done
-loves lotion and soap-she likes to run in on her tummy and legs
-likes to wipe her face and wash her hands
-she loves to dance

I'm sure there are a lot more but I can't think of anything else right now. I'm just so grateful for her!

15 1/2 months

I've been so bad at updating this blog but I don't want to let the opportunity slip by to keep at least some record of Riley. She is so much fun, loving and at times extremely frustrating! Here are some of her milestones

-she's 21 lbs 2 ounces
-a complete meat eater
-has 16 teeth
-size 4 shoes
-size 3 diapers
-still in 9-12 month clothes
-a climber (and a jumper)
-we can put pigtails in her hair and a pony tail in back
-she runs everywhere
-loves "wheels on the bus"
-likes to tickle herself and everyone else
-knows where her belly button, nose and mouth are (sometimes her eyes)
-likes to find other peoples belly buttons
-gives the sweetest hugs and kisses
-goes to sleep great 99% of the time
-sleeps 12-13 hours a night
-loves dogs
-loves the swings
-loves being outside
-loves to brush her teeth and hair
-likes to help clean
-helps put laundry in the washer and change it to the dryer
-she carries the key to the mailbox and tries to open it(she hasn't been successful quite yet)
-does not like sitting down in the bath
-has no interest in learning to swim
-loves baby dolls and stuffed animals
-loves pretzels
-likes to try blowing her nose
-likes using a fork
-loves when we let her play in the car when we're not going anywhere
-likes to close things
-it's her job to open and close the fridge and microwave when we're getting her bottle ready for bed
-she is a very strong willed girl with a quick temper. She does not have a lot of patience so that makes things a little difficult.

We just love her so much and are grateful for her in our lives. She has taught me so much about love and joy. I cannot imagine my life without her

Quick overdue update

I know there's been a lot of radio silence over the past few months here. Having a very active 1 year old and being super busy at work has kind of made it so I haven't wanted to update this blog.
Riley is now almost 13 1/2 months old. She is quite the handful! She never stops! Her mind is going a mile a minute every minute she's awake (and probably while she's asleep too but I wouldn't know).  She has 12 teeth and looks like she's getting another one. She is a very good eater, especially if she has meat. She's been introduced to animal crackers and pretzels and that's all she wants if they're around-not too thrilled about that. She loves the water and is so cute when she gets it in her face! We've been to the splash pad and the pool and she loves her baths. Even more than that she loves the sink! She's walking and climbing on everything. She gives high fives, kisses and hugs (when she deems necessary). She also tries to tickle or scratch. She loves her water bottle. She drinks out of a sippy cup really well but if you give her a water bottle she'll drink a TON more water. She's finally getting back to sleeping through the night and I LOVE IT!! She absolutely LOVES the movie and music Frozen. It's the one thing I know for a fact will calm her down if she's upset and will make her sit still for at least a minute. It's almost a daily thing around our house. She'll dance and just get so excited when it's on!
I think I'm going to wean her this weekend (we're going to do it cold turkey because she won't really drink milk or anything if there's the option for breast milk). I have mixed feelings about it. I'm going to miss the sweet quiet moments and the fact that I can nurse her to sleep. But I am looking forward to not having to plan our dates and nights around her bedtime and she can just get put to bed by someone else if we want to go on a date. We'll see how it goes.
We bought a house! It's a beautiful brand new home with incredible views. No neighbors yet which we're loving. It's 3 bedroom 2 bath, 2 car garage. We'll have to save up to do the back yard and that will be a lot of work, but we're loving it! It's so nice having space for Riley and a space we can do what we want with it! I'm looking forward to having all of our stuff unpacked and organized.

Months 8-9

We have a dr's appointment next Wednesday for Riley's 9 month check up but I figured I better write down all the amazing things Riley has been up to the past 2 months.

Month 8 events:
-January 2-3 she had a really high fever, it was sad but she was super cuddly so I enjoyed all the cuddles
-January 4th weekend was the hardest weekend (especially the 4th) since she was born. She was creaming and crying nonstop for hours and hours. I tried everything but couldn't calm her down and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. There were a lot of tears shed by both of us
-She wouldn't sleep at night on the 4th or 5th.
-After sacrament meeting we decided we needed to go home and try to get Riley to take a nap. Tony laid her on our rug for a minute, she just rolled over onto her stomach and fell asleep for 2 hours! It was adorable and a huge blessing for me!
-Since she was born she would rub her nose into our chest like she was trying to bury down. Now she does it against anything....her mattress, the couch, our bodies
-She loves pears, apples and these organic puff things(happy baby brand and I think its happy plum or something like that). We're all done with purees. She won't eat them
-We found out why she was screaming all day on the 4th. She was cutting all 4 top teeth at once :( it was miserable for all of us
-We went to San Diego
-On the way there she slept until Poway
-Loved the hot tub and Grandma's shower
-Loves playing the piano
-Crawled on grass for the first time
-Loved being around a lot of her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents
-She loves chicken
-She's done better at putting herself back to sleep at night
-Has the cutest giggle
-Gives lots of kisses and smiles
-Got lots of bumps and bruises at Grandma's
-Crawls so fast
-Stands on tip toes
-Will lift one foot to look like she's trying to climb
-Can scoot along things standing
-Can crawl over things on the ground

Month 9:
-on February 9th on our scale you weighed 17.6 lbs
-She wears size 2 diapers at daycare but at home she wears size 3 because Grandma Amy was able to get us a good deal on some and I ran out of size 2 and didn't want to go to the store again
-Had a week where she had a blow out every single day
-Right after Montana walked down the aisle, Tony got up to say the prayer and Riley decided that was the perfect time to poop....she was wearing white and with her history of blowout that week I had to take her out right then, luckily someone was willing to take her but I missed the very beginning of the ceremony
-she has been going to bed SO easy! I'll feed her and then stand by her crib and cuddle with her until she starts trying to get in her crib, when I set her down she rolls over and goes right to bed!
-She goes through phases if she'll sleep through the night or not...normally she's up once a night
-Loves any kind of meat, banana, apple, pears, rice milk yogurt bites, puffs, green beans, zucchini, frozen peas, blueberries, honeydew melon. She isn't a huge fan of cherries or carrots, but she'll eat them. She is such a good eater, we're lucky
-Has mastered a sippy cup
-Definitely knows when we're taking a picture or video...she's such a little actor
-She laughs all the time
-She can stand briefly on her own
-She can crawl up our step in our house
-She started this growling thing that's hilarious
-A couple times we've tried bringing her in our bed just until she falls asleep....it never works because as soon as she comes in(even if she's dead asleep) she is wide awake and wants to play and give kisses and touch our faces. It's so funny
-She gives the sweetest hugs and kisses
-One of my favorite moments-she gave me a hug with one arm around my neck and with the other hand she pulled my face to her so she could give me a kiss. It was so sweet
-She has this high pitched scream if she wants something. Every thing I've read says it's a phase because she's trying to communicate what she wants. Or she needs more attention. Since I've read that I've been trying to give her even more attention and find out what she's wanting before she starts the scream. She seems to be doing a bit better
-She learned how to shake her head. It is adorable. She does it when she knows she's not supposed to do something (but she does it anyway). Like climbing up on our tile step, she'll turn to us and shake her head as she's climbing up. She's too smart!
-We had to teach in sunbeams one week and we were in opening exercises and the lady talking asked if the kids knew something to raise their hands...well Riley's hand shot right up! It was so funny, perfect timing!
-She waves by to people, or cars
-Says "dada" "mama" "dog" "cat" (sounds like 'at') and it sounds like she's starting to say duck
-on 2/25 she signed "more" for the first time. It made me so happy! I haven't been as consistent with signing as I wanted to be and I haven't used as many signs as I had been planning, so now that she understands she can communicate by signing I'm going to do better at signing to her.

The past two months have been so fun! She has a lot of personality. She is very independent which can be a good thing, but sometimes it's a bit much ha. She is so loving and happy! She's a goofball for sure. She is a wiggle worm(can't sit still for a second) but still wants you to hold her a lot. I can't get over how much I love this little girl! She makes me crazy some days but in the middle of me going crazy she does something so sweet and adorable that my heart melts (just for a minute before she starts making me crazy again ha). I am so grateful to have her in our life. She is the greatest blessing we could ask for!
